The Call to Overcome

Text Revelation 3:21
" To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne."
Introduction
Life is filled with struggles.
There is not a human that does not have struggles.
Struggles with finances.
Struggles with relationships.
Struggles with children.
Struggles at work.
Struggles with sickness.
Jesus declared to all in John 16:33
"In the world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world."
They were not His idea. They were part of the agenda of Satan
John 10:10
"..he came to steal, kill, and destroy."
We were born on a battlefield. But we did not have to become victims, instead we could become victors.
He challenged us as believer to understand that with all the difficulties and tribulations of the world He did not intend for us to be overcome by them.
That is the expression of my text as well as His announcement in John 16:33
The early believers learned to gain victory in spite of their hard circumstances. The Apostles beaten for preaching Jesus in Acts 5:40 and they rejoice that they were worthy to suffer for his name. Paul and Silas sing in Philippian Prison. John the Apostle wrote an Epistle amidst imprisonment and persecution on the Isle of Patmos James declare that we should consider going into difficulty and tribulation with joy.
They were aware that Divine purposes were accomplished through struggles.
Paul wrote in Romans 5:3
". . .but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulations produces perseverance; and perseverance, character, and character, hope."
God never intended for life to swamp us.

Instead he wanted life to be the up draft that would cause us to soar into His Kingdom.
A call is clear for us to overcome.
We need to learn from early believers how to respond ...
