Isaiah 7:14


Isaiah 7:14 Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

The first coming (advent) of Jesus was actually the climax of a process of revelation that God gave to the world.
God reveals to us that mankind is separated from Him (distant) by their hardened hearts and human nature; the Bible calls it sin.

But God wants us to know who He is and what He has done for mankind. He speaks to those who have rebelled against the moral law and conscience that God has given all people.

THIS PROCESS IS CALLED PROGRESIVE REVELATION
He revealed Himself to the world through His creation (Romans 1:19ff) ..since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so they men are without excuse.

He revealed Himself to the world through His prophets
Then Heb 1:1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son ...The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by His powerful word.
