Bad news? We sure have enough of that these days don't we? Turn on the TV - pick up a newspaper and you'll see what I mean. The world is on fire out west. There's rioting in the streets of our major cities on a nightly basis. Racial unrest has rocked our society down to its very core. The stock market is like a bouncing football - radically unpredictable. No use mentioning the ''Covid pandemic'' - we're all pretty much aware of that ''little piece'' of bad news. Like a lot of people these days, you may be asking yourself this morning, ''What's next?''

The fact that there will always be bad news is one of life's inescapable truths. Bad news is part of the human condition. Read the Scriptures and you'll see that even David lived through some harrowing times. He certainly experienced his share of bad news! However, he also discovered a life changing antidote for the problem of bad news and the fear it so often brings. He discovered that we don't have to be afraid of bad news because of our relationship with God.

Psalm 112:1-10

1 Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments. 2 His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. 3 Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever. 4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. 5 A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. 6 Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. 7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies. 9 He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor. 10 The wicked will s ...
