The Route toward Revival

2 Chronicles 7:12-16
From an academic view, preaching is defined as 'truth through personality.' In that light, please allow me to begin with a personal moment. Today is a different day for me. In just over a month, I will be a pastor once again and already I feel the pastoral weight of the spiritual impact and influence of a congregation. You see, in the community where we are going, I see the people who make up New Hope Church as the best, last, and only hope for our culture, which I believe, to be crumbling. I have a deep belief that we need an awakening or a revival to come.
IN 1859, Charles Dickens began His classic novel, ''A Tale of Two Cities'' with these, now familiar words, It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, This could be written about the USA in the 21st century.
For me, this is a sad time in our land. When I say this, many, if not most, will think I'm talking about the unrest in our streets, the unkindness in our politics, the ungodliness in our government, or even the undeniable confusion which permeates our land. While all those things are true, it's deeper. I ask myself, ''what has happened to America?'' Everything seems to be upside down. I am not talking pandemic or politics (may be a pandemic of politics. That may be what is killing people). Here is the saddest thing in our land: As a nation, we have never been further from God. How does that happen? It's simple, as a people, we have never been further from God. The evidence is tremendous and undeniable. The pandemic has not created problems as much as it has exposed or revealed the spiritual problem which have been deeply hidden and/or not spoke ...
