Master of Flip (1 of 4)
Series: Real Talk
Ryan Heller
John 3:1-21
Gena and I love to watch HGTV, all those renovation, fixer-upper type shows. I'm talking about programs like Masters of Flip, Fixer Upper, Flip or Flop. Is that great television, or what? Isn't it something, how these individuals can take the most dilapidated, falling apart house in the neighborhood, and swoosh-swoosh, they fix it up and sell it for a huge profit? Tearing down walls, stripping out the bathrooms, changing the floor plan, pulling out the nasty, stinky carpet with rats running all over it-and they turn it into a palace. They flip it. It is amazing to me.

As we study this Scripture, I wonder: If we had a question we could ask Jesus over a cup of coffee, or if we had an issue we wanted to talk to the Son of God about, what would He would say to us? There's a point in each of these stories that reminds us of our own lives, and of what God really thinks about us.
Today our Scripture reminds us that God is a great flipper. Jesus Christ, throughout the New Testament, is flipping lives. He's renovating hearts. He's transforming individuals. That's one of the things I love about Jesus Christ. He was the best change agent we have ever known. He was always doing full gut jobs on people's hearts and lives. God is the greatest flipper of all!
Jesus was ministering to prostitutes, and extortionists, and radicals. He ministered to people who were sick. People who were struggling. People who didn't have any hope in their lives. He was able to do a renovation project on these individuals.
Chapter 3 of the gospel of John tells us of a powerful conversation Jesus has with a man who has a spiritual problem. Sometimes we have hope problems, sometimes ...
