?It's been said that timing is everything. There's a right time and a wrong time for everything we do in life. Timing affects our relationships. It affects our investments, it affects our ministry, it affects our church. It affects all areas of life. Timing is so important. If you say to a woman prematurely ''When is your baby due''-bad timing, right? Maybe you've done it before. If you say to someone, ''I'm excited about your surprise party tomorrow night,'' it may not go so well. Timing is critical. Timing is important.
The same is true with God. The same is true with our spiritual lives. There are seasons in our life when we are running. There are seasons when we are jogging, and there are seasons when we are waiting. Today I want to talk to you about what it means to wait on the Lord. What it means to wait for God. Sometimes we get in such a hurry, we get ahead of all the things God is about to do in our lives. That's when we make mistakes, get into many problems. We create so many adversities for ourselves, often out of a desire not to be patient, not to wait on the Lord.
I encourage you to make notes today, to follow along with where we are going. Psalm 27 says, ''Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!'' In Psalm 27:14 the Bible says, ''Wait for the Lord, wait for the Lord!'' There are seasons when we wait for God to open that door. Sometimes people say, ''If I'm waiting on God, what does it mean?'' The tendency is to think, ''Well I'm just going to sit on my couch and eat potato chips and watch TV. I'm waiting on God.''
Waiting on God does not necessarily mean inactivity. In fact, you may be busy while you're waiting on God. If you're looking for a job, you ...
