I started reading a book last week by Michael Hyatt called, Best Year Ever. It's about setting and achieving goals in the coming year. It's a really great book. He breaks out the different types of goals you can set for your life into ten categories. One of them is the spiritual aspect. I began to think about what I want God to do in my life in this coming year, because if you're a follower of Jesus, you never get to the point where you're as close to God as you can be. That's always a process you're growing in, and you're (hopefully) always moving forward and growing more intimate with the Lord, and more knowledgeable.

It reminded me of a verse I've been thinking about over the last few months from the 49th chapter of the book of Isaiah. This verse really began to capture what I wanted God to do in my life over the next twelve months. I wanted to share it with you today, because I think that, as we look forward to 2019, this could be the greatest year of your life. If we could draw close to God, and if we can keep the 49th chapter of Isaiah on the tip of our brain this year, I believe God is going to take our faith to a new level. God is going to do something amazing. God is going to do something powerful within us. So, I want us to look at these three aspects today of the best year ever.

The prophet Isaiah, the eighth century BC prophet, begins by saying in verse 15, ''Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack of compassion for the child of her womb? Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you. Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.''

The prophet Isaiah is writing here, many years ago, to the people of Judah. He predicts they're going to be overthrown by the Assyrian Empire.
