Get Smarter (6 of 10)
Series: Real Faith

James 3:13-18?
I love that old TV show Get Smart. Do we have some Get Smart fans in the house this morning? Love that old show from the 1960s. I grew up as a kid watching reruns of Get Smart and then I got really excited because a couple years ago Steve Carell came out with an updated Get Smart movie, and it was kind of like Get Smart for a new generation.
The lead character Maxwell Smart (Steve Carrell) is so cool because he has all of these contraptions. In fact, my favorite gadget of Maxwell Smart is the shoe phone. He was always taking his shoe off and he would talk into the shoe as if it were a phone but upon dialing 117 and it would turn into a gun. In addition to the shoe gun Smart had secret phones everywhere, cigarette lighters, magazines, water hoses, neckties.
Now Maxwell and his beautiful sidekick, Agent 99, worked for a government agency called CONTROL. CONTROL was this government agency in Washington, DC and yet they had the arch nemesis which was known as KAOS. CONTROL was always trying to defeat the evil of KAOS. The whole show centered around the conflict between CONTROL and KAOS. ??Similar to the show Get Smart we live in the battle between control and chaos. The Book of James is a case study between the two.
