This morning we're continuing our series in the book of James. If you haven't been with us previously, we've been going through the book of James over the last few weeks, and today we want to look at James chapter 5 verses 7 to 11. Next week, we're going to conclude our series on the book of James as we talk about prayer for the sick and the powerful prayer of a righteous person. We're going there next week, but today we want to talk about the topic of patience.

Does anybody here ever struggle with patience? All right. All of you other guys are liars. Okay, we all struggle with patience, don't we? I feel like I've spent most of my life waiting. When I was a little kid, I couldn't wait to go to elementary school. Then I got to elementary school, and I couldn't wait to be in high school. Then I couldn't wait to graduate and go to college. Then I couldn't wait to go to graduate school and get a master's degree. Then I couldn't wait to get married. Then I couldn't wait to do doctoral work. Then I couldn't wait to have kids. And the new chapter that we're really excited about is our kids are going to be in preschool together half day for the first time in the history of our marriage, so we are praising God for that. We are so fired up.

We've been waiting for that day for a long time, and I'm sure that there will be other things that we're waiting for, but we're always waiting it feels like. I don't know about you, but there are certain things that really drive me crazy. I'm relatively patient, at least sometimes, but I'm not in particular instances. One is when I get really hungry. I'll tell you, Friday night, I was at a restaurant and it took forever for them to bring the food out, like 45 minutes. Are you kidding me?
