INTRODUCTION: Vision is a clear mental image of a desired future. Vision is the goal, it is the destination that we set our for.
Last week we looked at God's vision for our lives.
This week we explore God's vision for New Life Church.
There are several aspects of Church life that should be present in every fellowship.
- Biblical preaching
- Evangelism and Missions
These should be present in every church. In fact, without them, you really can not claim to be a New Testament Church. You might meet, like a county club or a lodge, but your not a church without those.
These will continue to be present in this church.
However, there are some very distinctive characteristics that God placed on both Gina and my heart when we answered the call to start this church.
They are important for you to know. They are not up for a vote. This is who I believe that God is calling us to be.
In the next month we will give you the opportunity to become a member of this fellowship. We will talk a lot more about that in the coming weeks. You will want to be on board with these 4 characteristics before you join. These 4 characteristics are exciting and motivating. They are biblically based. I read and reread the book of Acts before starting this church and these 4 distinctives jumped out at me.
1. SIMPLICITY - KEEPING IT ALL ABOUT JESUS -
Acts 2:36 - The early church has been filled with the Spirit at Pentecost. Peter stands and preaches the first sermon of the early church. His theme - it was Jesus. Vs. 36 - ''Let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.''
