Is Your Life a Blank Check?
Collin Wimberly
Romans 12:1-2
CIT - Paul appeals to the Roman believers to present their bodies to God as a living sacrifice.
Proposition- As believers in Christ, we must surrender ourselves to the Lordship of Christ.
Question: Why should we surrender to Christ?
INTRODUCTION:
A few weeks ago my wife shared with me what she had learned that morning in her devotions. The writer made the statement that every believer's live should be a blank check written out to God.
That idea stuck with me for days.
The idea of our life as a blank check comes from an unknown source and is used to define a Veteran.
''A veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America, for an amount up to and including their life.''
That stirred me up. I have not been able to get that idea out of my mind, my heart, my Spirit.
Men, we are soldiers of the Cross. Our commander, our General, demands and deserves nothing less than the total surrender of our lives to His Lordship.
Our lives must be a blank check.
Read Romans 12:1-2
At the heart of this passage is a striking metaphor. Paul urges believers to offer themselves up as living sacrifices. Offering a sacrifice would have been clearly understood by the Roman believers. Probably all of them had seen a sacrificial animal being lead to the altar, killed, and then burnt. Paul urges them to be ''living sacrifices.'' By this he means that all believers are to offer up their lives to God without reservation. We are to live a life of radical submission to the will of God.
My question for you tonight: Is your life a blank check written out to God?
My purpose is from these 2 verses to show you why that you, tonight, should make a radical surrender of yourself to Christ.
