ILLUS. - The US Army has a Warrior Ethos that states the following, ''I will always place the mission first, I will never accept defeat, I will never quit, and I will never leave a fallen comrade.''- It's mission centered... it conveys commitment... and it ties them together. They aren't going to leave one another behind, because they are in this together. - This guiding principle, this ethos is important in the Army... because when war happens... you have to be committed to the mission, to finishing well, and to one another

The Christian life is war. We are in a fallen, broken world. Sin is everywhere, brokenness is everywhere... hurt, pain, sickness, suffering. - In the midst of this... we are called to live for Jesus, to share His gospel, to persevere ... and to do all of this TOGETHER. We are God's people, we are in this together. We are tied to one another though our common faith in Jesus our Lord.

Today we are closing out our study in the book of James. The believers James wrote to were facing life in a broken world. Suffering, poverty, persecution were the type of things the community of faith was facing. As he brings his letter to a close and he comes back to the topics of suffering as we saw last week... he encourages perseverance... and this week... prayer and pursuit of the wanderer.

Today we are going to see the importance of Prayer and Pursuit in a Broken World. - If we are goings to persevere... we need to pray for one another, and pursue one another if we wander. ?

Big Idea: In this broken world, the local church should be a community of prayer and a community that pursues those that wander from the truth.
