Heaven is something that we sing about, we dream about, we preach about, and we talk about, but what do we really know about heaven. In 2010 there was a book that became an instant best seller, that book was ''Heaven is for Real.'' The book had sold 10 million copies by 2014 and was made into a movie which was released in 2014 and grossed over $101 million dollars at the box office. The book is assumed to have been based upon a young boy's trip to heaven and back during an emergency appendectomy surgery.
The boy's name was Colton Burpo, who supposedly saw Jesus and former relatives of his family that had been dead for many years before he was born. This book has received scathing criticism from the Conservative Christian Community for is Un-biblical perspective on the afterlife. I am of the opinion that I don't place any stock in this sort of supernatural sensationalism. In reality this book was written without any scientific claims that the boy had even died during the operation and ultimately they got filthy rich off the book.
