Christmas Eve Part 1 (3 of 4)
Series: Joy to the World

Luke 2:1
I. Introduction
Merry Christmas! We're so honored to have you spend part of your Christmas with us here at Mission Hills, so whether you're joining us at our Littleton campus, our Dove Valley campus, our Mission Hills en Espanol campus or our online campus, welcome. We're so glad you're here!
And if this is your first time joining us at Mission Hills, I'd like to say a special welcome to you. Now, I don't know what you came expecting to hear today, but I thought I'd let you know some of the things I won't be saying.
I won't be saying that Jesus is the reason for the season. I'm not going to rant about people saying ''happy holidays instead of Merry Christmas'' or writing ''X-mas'' instead of Christmas. I won't be quoting any lines from Dr Seuss about Christmas not coming from a store or meaning a little bit more. So, if you're working on a Christmas-cliché bingo card, sorry, you're out of luck here. By the way, I posted a Christmas Cliché Bingo card on Instagram a few weeks ago, and there's still time to get in on the fun...just search #christmasclichebingo.
What we are going to talk about today is joy and, specifically, how a baby, born in a barn, in a small Middle-Eastern village, over 2,000 years ago, can mean joy to the world...because, let's face it, that's a little hard to get a handle on, isn't it? Joy to the world is another one of those Christmas clichés, right? It's on Christmas cards and shopping bags and store banners...it's playing on the PA's... but I think for a lot of people, the mental connection between Jesus and joy is a little hard to make...and you know what, that might be true for you even if you consider yourself a follower of Jesus.
So that's what I want to talk about today; that's the question I want to answer: what's the connecti ...
