Little Bobby was excited. He was going to spend the entire weekend with his Nana. Like most grandmothers, when it came to her grandchildren Nana seemed to have lost every ounce of good judgment she had shown with her own children when they were young.
This simply meant that little Bobby got to do what he wanted, eat what he wanted and however much he wanted. That is what Bobby was most excited about. He loved Nana' homemade pancakes. At home, he was only allowed to eat two but at Nana's only his stomach set the limit and he was intent on finding out what that limit was.
That next morning Nana heated the griddle, started mixing, cooking and little Bobby started eating. He quickly shot past his usual limit of two and was ready for double digits and then he stopped. Nana, who was still flipping flapjacks on the griddle asked him if he was ready for more, to which little Bobby replied, ''I don't want to the ones I've already had!''
Sometimes we get what we want but quickly realize that we really didn't want what we got!
That's where King David was at this moment in life. Back in chapter 11 David got what he wanted, an illicit adulterous affair with beautiful Bathsheba, one she felt forced into because of David's position as King. David, like little Bobby, quickly realized he didn't want what he already had.
Bathsheba became pregnant and it had to be David's. Her husband was off fighting in a war. David tried to cover up his sin by bringing her husband home for a weekend furlough and time alone with his beautiful young wife, Bathsheba but Uriah was an honorable and faithful man who stayed with the troops and with David.
David devised a plan to have Uriah murdered under the cover of battle which he did. Now David was not only an adulterer and sexual predator, but a murderer and God was not pleased.
David was confronted by God's prophet Nathan and told ...
