Big Idea: God calls us to prepare for a greater blessing than we've yet experienced so we can be a greater blessing than we've yet been.
I. Introduction
Welcome to Mission Hills. I'm so glad you're here today, because I'm super excited about the truth that God wants to speak into our lives today. This is a truth that I actually learned years ago, but I've discovered that I have a frustrating tendency to lose sight of this truth. So, this has been kind of an eye-opening and faith-building week for me as I've become reacquainted with this truth.
Why don't you go ahead and grab a bible and turn with me to 1 Kings 4.
As you may - or may not - know, this is week 2 of our Imagine series where we're talking about our future as a church. We're peeking through some doors to see what God has in store for us in the future and what it looks like to get ready to be the church God is calling us to be. Now, last week we looked at what God has to say about the purpose of any local church, which is to be the platform that holds the light of the Gospel up for the world to see. And we said that any church that loses sight of that, that stops loving the lost, has ceased to be a church. And we talked about the fact that, for the Littleton campus of Mission Hills, loving the lost means that we have to make room for them by expanding our worship center, building a new auditorium that will create space for additional worship venues and student ministry space, and expanding the lobby.
By the way, Friday night there were 1300 Middle School students in this room hearing the good news of the Gospel...but this room doesn't seat 1300 people. So we're out of room to reach more students through things like the Big Halloween Party unless we can make some more physical room.
