When The Going Gets Tough (1 of 14)
Series: James: When Faith Works

James 1:1-4
Intro/Attention
Today, I'm beginning a brand new series on the book of James. I'm calling this series, When Faith Works because one of the major themes of this book is that genuine faith leads to godly behavior.
James is a book that will call us to action. As we study this book together, you will discover that James does not beat around the bush, he gets straight to the point. He doesn't mince words; he's not worried about your feelings. He is very concerned about how Christians ought to live. Out of 108 verses there are around 55 commands. Every other verse is telling us what we're supposed to do.

And by the way, you forgot to take the trash out last night and if you don't bring that Algebra grade up, you're grounded! Think about it. Jesus never lied, cheated, disobeyed, or talked back. He never sinned! James couldn't look at his parents and says, ''Jesus did it!''*
I find it interesting that James wasn't a follower of Jesus initially. The Bible tells us in John 7:5, ''Not even his brothers b ...
