Consider a question this morning, ''When people come into this place, what do they come seeking?'' Do they come out of habit, social, cultural duty, or do they come to a place where they can sense, see, and feel God's presence? Better said, do they come where ''GOD IS IN THE HOUSE?'' Today, let's read a story about God being in the house. (READ TEXT)

What an incredible and moving story. A non-believer invited Jesus to have dinner and Jesus actually came, and a woman, only identified as a sinner, showed up. The non-believer was unmoved and the sinner was saved.

My prayer for you is that every time we gather, God is present. I pray that He is so real that He can be sensed by every person present. When we gather, God's presence should be on our minds. Too often, people are much concern about other things (I.E. what's he/she wearing, did someone get my seat or my parking place, etc) The list goes on and on and yet, if gathering will ever equate to touching heaven, it will be when GOD IS IN THE HOUSE. What does it mean when God is in the house? 4 things...

When God is in the house - He has been invited. The scripture says clearly that the Pharisee invited Jesus to eat. Why did a Pharisee invite Jesus? We could guess many different reasons but taken into context with the history of the Pharisees, it could be well stated that it was to watch Him, check Him out, and find fault. Why did Jesus go? When Jesus is invited, many times, He will 'show up.' Generally, He will not if He is NOT invited.

When God is in the house - People know it. - A Pharisee invited HIS close FRIENDS and the word got around! People know when God is in the house.

When God is in the house - People want to be there, they show up. - God has placed into the heart of mankind to be where He is. Woven into our DNA is the desire to find God and commune with Him. Conversely, I wonder if this is the reason, so few seem to attend services. IS GITH ...
