March 1st

Gen 12:4 KJV - So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram [was] seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

The bible opened with Adam being the central character, then Noah, and now we will spend some time with Abraham. He had been with his father in the land of Haran, but his father died in that place. God spoke to Abraham and told him it was time to move on and that he had plans for him.

Gen 12:2 KJV - And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

We are now moving from people and places to a specific nation, a specific people, and one specific place. Israel and the Jews will now be the centerpiece of the bible and its story will major upon them throughout the bible.
