Series: Fruit of the Spirit
Dr. David Davis
Galatians 5:22
Galatians 5:22 - "But the· fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith..."
The word "faith" is actually translated "faithfulness".
Faithfulness is not only "what" we believe, but "how" we live as a result of what we believe.
If you have ever visited Yellowstone National Park - you have heard of one of the geysers there. There are many geysers but there is one that is called "Old Faithful". Every 65 minutes she burst forth her hot water 170 feet up in the air.
Faithfulness is a quality that we all admire. If we don't - we ought to. I can tel I you that God, not only admires faithfulness, but He requires faithfulness.
The Bible says, "It is required that a steward be found faithful."
I don't care how much ability you have, how much talent you possess, how much personality you have, how much intelligence you have, how hard you work - if you can't be depended on there is a serious flaw in your character.
What do we mean by faithfulness? Integrity. Honesty. Trustfulness. Loyalty.
If I were to ask the people in this church to write five letters to people they can depend on - to people they can really trust, would you receive a letter?
According to a Gallup Poll - 40% of the American people call in to work sick - when they are not sick. This makes me wonder how many of the people surveyed were not even honest about their dishonesty. Mr. Gallup went on to say - "In my estimation as a scientific researcher, America is in a crisis of the first magnitude. The crisis is not political, military, but spiritual and moral.
Are you a faithful person? When you stand before the Lord, will He be able to say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
