Galatians 5:22-23
Galatians 5:22-23 - ''But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, (23)Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.''
Many of us have lives that are out of control.
I heard of a woman who filled out the following accident report after she damaged her automobile. Here's what she wrote. '1 was backing my car out of the garage - I lost sight of the driveway and got on the lawn. I went across the lawn through the hedge and knocked over a garbage can - and then knocked over the mail box. I then went down over the curb and hit my neighbors car. And then I lost control.''
There are a lot of people who are out of control and don't even know it. Either the flesh or the Spirit is going to be in control of your Iife.
Look at verses 19-21.
Adultery - is sexual union with anybody other than your married partner.
Fornication - is sexual activity before marriage.
Uncleanness - is wrong thoughts - impure. Pornography. Lasciviousness - is a lack of restraint - sensuality - living by your five senses. Letting your senses dictate what you do and how you behave.
Idolatry - What is an idol? Anything that is more important to you than God.
Witchcraft - is sorcery - ''pharmakia'' - drug use.
Hatred - Are you nursing a grudge?
Variance - is strife. People who like to start arguments.
They are Iike a porcupine. They have a lot of good points, but you can't get near them.
Emulations - is jealousy which is rooted in selfishness. A desire for revenge or to get even.
Strife - is a spirit that divides. These kind of people split churches. Wrath - is a spirit of hot-headedness. Someone who finds it easy to fly off the handle. They have a short fuse.
Seditions - is to stand a part. People who think they are better than every one else.
Heresies - is false doctrines.
