Well, hey, welcome to Mission Hills Church online. So glad to have you with us today for the start of our new series. For the next few weeks, we're going to be leaning in to something that I suspect we're all being forced to lean into anyway, and that is relationships. Here's what we know: we know that relationships can be challenging even in the easiest of times, but difficult circumstances put additional strain on our relationships. And what people are posting on the internet right now is proof of that. I wonder if you can relate to any of these
- If the schools are closed much longer, parents will find a vaccine before the scientists #amiright?
- In an unsettling reversal of my teenage years, I am now the one yelling at my parents for going out so much #amiright?
- I'm going to kill the next person in a zoom meeting who says ''hey we all look like the brady bunch'' #amiright?
- Day 14 of no sports. Found a nice woman on my couch. She seems nice. #amiright
- Day 10 of quarantine. Very disappointed in police who won't remove unwanted people from my house just because they pay ''rent'' #amiright?
Whether you relate to those or you have your own relationship struggles, the reality is that difficult circumstances put additional strain on our relationships. And I want you to know that if you're struggling in a relationship right now, that's normal, ok? If your kids are driving you crazy, that doesn't mean you're a bad mom. If you're your husband or your wife is getting on your last nerve, that doesn't mean your marriage is doomed. If you and your roommate are at each other's throats, that doesn't mean it's time to take out an ad on Craig's list. Relationships are hard...especially in these circumstances.
