Introduction

Welcome to all our locations, including church online. So glad you're with us today. I'm excited because we're launching a new message series today called Equipted. And let's just go ahead and clear this up now: no, that's not a typo. We got some calls this week from people who saw the announcements about this new series and they called us up to say ''Hey, I hate to have to tell you this, but there's kind of a major typo in your announcement. Yeah, you misspelled the word 'equipped'.'' We actually didn't. When God first laid this series on my heart, I gave it the working title ''Equipped/Gifted'' figuring we'd settle on one or the other, or something else like it, but what happened was that as we talked about it, our team kept accidentally smooshing the two words together and saying ''euipted''. It happened enough that we finally just decided to embrace it and make it the official title.

And here's kind of the big idea that we're going to explore in this series: if you've said yes to Jesus, God has given you new gifts to equip you for your new mission. Because when you put your faith in Jesus, you didn't just get forgiven of your sin, you didn't just get adopted into God's family...when you said yes to Jesus, he made you a part of his mission. That's why we say that Mission Hills exists to help people become like Jesus and join him on mission. Now, I hope that's exciting, but let's be honest: it's also pretty intimidating. I mean, who am I to be on mission with Jesus? It's easy to feel like we don't have what it takes to do that, but listen: if you've said yes to Jesus, God has given you new gifts to equip you for your new mission.
