1 Corinthians 12: 8-11
I. Introduction
Welcome to all of our locations. If you're just joining us, you should know that we are in week #2 of our series, Equipted, where we're talking about the ways that God has equipped and gifted - equipted - us to be on mission with him.
Let's review what we know so far:
- Number one, we know that God has created and redeemed us for mission. We were made as God's image, which means that we were created to represent him and to extend his influence throughout creation.
- Number two, we know that where God guides, He provides. So if he's made us for mission and if, by our faith in Jesus, he's restored us to that mission for which we were made...then we can be confident that he's also providing what we need to do it, to be on mission with him.
- Number three, we know that God has equipted every believer with natural, learned and spiritual gifts. Natural gifts are abilities we were born with. Learned gifts are abilities we developed over time and through experience. Spiritual gifts are abilities that came to us when the Holy Spirit came into our lives. Now, everyone listening to this has natural gifts and learned gifts...but not everyone has spiritual gifts. I say that because I know that some you listening to this don't the Holy Spirit...because you don't have a relationship with God through faith in Jesus. And it's that moment that we put our faith in Jesus that several things happen: 1. We're forgiven of our sin. 2. We're adopted into the family of God and we begin a relationship with our creator. 3. The Holy Spirit comes into our lives and begin changing us from the inside out...and when he comes into our lives, he brings with him spiritual gifts. Now, a lot of you listening at all of our locations have the Holy Spirit because you have a relationship with God through faith in Jesus. And that means that you have spiritual gifts in addition to the natural ...
