1 Corinthians 14:2-3
I. Introduction
Welcome to all of our locations. We are wrapping up our Equipted series today. In this series, we've been taking a look at what God says about all the ways he has gifted and equipped us to be on mission with him in the world.
Next week I'm really excited to bring you a teaching on 1 Samuel 4 which has had a profound influence on my own life. In fact, this is a story that I come back to time and time again in my own life and God has something powerful and convicting to say to me every single time. I really want to encourage you to make sure that you don't miss it. By the way, this would also be a great message to bring your unchurched friends to, so if you have someone in your life that you've been thinking about inviting to come to church with you...and I hope you do...this week would be a great time to take the plunge and extend that invitation.

Now, this week what we're going to do is take a look at a teaching from the Apostle Paul on how to apply that lesson to two specific spiritual gifts that God has given the church: the gift of prophecy and speaking in tongues.
And let me just say right off the bat that I know this might not seem like a super-relevant subject for us to take a look at. First, off, those particular gifts might be unfamiliar to you...they might even be very uncomfortable for you. Maybe that's because you came from a church background that, in your opinion, over-emphasized those two spiritual gifts. Or maybe this is uncomfortable because you don't come from a church background at all and the whole idea of prophecy and speaking in tongues ju ...
