Philippians 1:1-2
Introduction
Welcome to Mission Hills. I'm so honored to have you with us this weekend. This is a big weekend at Mission Hills. It's the first weekend after Labor Day which is when everything kind of kicks into high gear for the Fall. It's Compassion weekend...you'll hear a little more about that later in the service. But you're stuck.
Maybe your marriage feels like it's not what you signed up for. Maybe it's become all boring routine...or maybe it's not boring...maybe it's bad and you don't see any way to make it better.
Maybe you're struggling health issues.
Maybe taking care of your kids or your parents suddenly feels like it's all-consuming and there's just no time for anything else.
If anyone knows about circumstances that aren't conducive to contentment, it would the Apostle Paul who wrote the book of Philippians. Paul had this big goal of getting to Rome, because he knew that Rome would be a strategic base of operations for taking the Gospel out to the rest of the world. And in several of his other letters, Paul talks about his desires and his effo ...
