People have a tendency to put BELIEF over here... and BEHAVIOR over here. - We have a tendency to separate theology and faith from who we live our lives. - James doesn't allow that. James shows us that our faith is to influence every area of our lives. In this series we will explore James' teaching on trials, temptation, hearing and obeying the Word of God, good works, our words, wisdom, prayer, and so on. James wants us to see that what we believe should drive our behavior... what we do. Our faith should shape our lives.
Today we are going to look at being Steadfast Under Trial - Everyone goes through trials ... troubles, sufferings, difficulties, pains... everyone. - In fact... we are all going through one together right now... but it is effecting people differently.
The pandemic has cost some people their health, some of have lost a loved one, some have lost a job, some of added anxiety, or are struggling with depression. Some are not as affected other than a cramp in lifestyle. But everyone is affected to some degree, just not the same.
Christians have a unique perspective though... we know God works in the midst of trials. He uses them. Wouldn't it be a shame if we went through this pandemic... unchanged? Wouldn't it be a shame if we went through it and never assumed God wanted to grow us through it? God uses trials.
