Gospel Power (4 of 7)
Series: Divine Dynamite

Romans 1:16
Take your Bible and turn to Romans 1. There are too many folks who are what I call 'Christopher Columbus Christians'. You know what that is? Probably not. When Christopher Columbus started out...
He didn't know where he was going.
When he got there, he didn't know where he was.
When he got back, he did not know where he had been.
Yes, we have a national holiday to celebrate his confusion. There are way too many believers who are like that when it comes to understanding the Bible and the Christian faith. They're all twisted up and turned around. They just aren't all the sure of how to navigate efficiently and effectively through what they believe and why they believe it. I'm hopeful this series will help all of us with that. My prayer isn't that you walk out of here better able to regurgitate the facts of the Gospel. My prayer is that your heart is once again impacted by the truth and the power of the Gospel, so that through that your mind can understand what your heart knows to be true.
Romans 1:16: ''For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.''
Paul says, ''For I am not ashamed of the Gospel.'' That little phrase has very little impact on us unless we know what Paul has gone through because of the Gospel. You see, because of the Gospel:
He has been imprisoned in Philippi. He has been chased out of Thessalonica.
He has been smuggled from Berea. He was mocked in Athens.
He was seen as a fool in Corinth. He was nearly stoned to death in Galatia.
And yet, in light of all these things, he is excited about the Gospel. He's overjoyed with the Gospel. And he is eager to preach the Gospel to all of Rome if he gets the chance.
Why? Because of the next phrase '...it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes...''. The Gospel ...
