Former US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, visited China in the past decade. At the time, she said that human rights issues cannot interfere with the US' economic relationship to China. Clinton has been an outspoken opponent of China's human rights violations, yet China is currently the world's largest holder of US debt. What is an American Christian's role in urging China to grant its people human rights?
When President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law in March 2010, he issued a mandate that required most employers to pray for some abortifacients. The Supreme Court ruled in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby by 5-4 decision that President Obama's mandate was unconstitutional because it violated many citizens' religious freedom. The time-honored American principle of religious liberty was nearly overturned. President Obama did not always adhere to the founders' vision for religious liberty. His administration showed little concern for this important right when it required businesses to provide contraceptives and abortifacients to employees even when the business owners had religious objections to doing so.
