Jesus - the Rose of Sharon - cut off in the midst of His days, also died. But that Rose came to life again. I never saw a rose that died and bloomed again. But Jesus, the Rose of Sharon, bloomed again after the frost and ice of death had wrapped Him up. And the Rose which was broken and bruised under the cruel and crushing hands of malicious men burst forth into radiant bloom again.
He lives triumphant from the grave
He lives eternally to save
He lives all glorious in the sky
He lives exalted there on high
He lives my hungry soul to feed
He lives to help in time of need

Now, I tell you that Jesus Christ is alive, and that is great news. I don't want that news to be buried beneath bunnies, bonnets and baskets. I want us to get that news out in the sunlight and bask in it. Jesus Christ is alive!

In our text I want us to notice three things. First of all, I want you to see in these verses that

I. DEATH IS DESCRIBED
Now, look in verses 55 and 56 (read). The Bible teaches in these verses, and in verse 26 of this same chapter, that we have an enemy, and that enemy is death.

Now, as we have indicated in the past, death is not a very popular subject. In some places it is almost impolite to talk about death. Death is almost un-American.

Did you know that man is the only creature that really knows he's going to die? And he is desperately trying to forget it. If you don't believe it, just look around and see the middle-age man in his sports car or the woman working overtime with the cosmetics. We're trying so hard to slow down the aging process and postpone death. I heard a comedienne describe a woman who had so many face lifts that there was no skin on the bottom of her feet. He said, ''Her skin was so tight that her mouth came open when she sat down.''

When death finally comes, we often camouflage it. When we view a dead friend at a funeral home, we often say, ''Doesn't he look natur ...
