A lot of times, we have a tendency to skip over the difficult ... and head straight to the easy. Right? We don't want to dwell on the valley. Instead, we want to head straight to the mountaintop. We want to skip the bad and embrace the good. We want to move past the trials and experience the triumphs...

The same is true of the Easter season. There's a part of us that wants to skip everything and put on some bunny ears and eat Cadbury Eggs until we're sick at our stomachs... There's a part of us that wants to skip the CROSS and go straight to the empty tomb.

But the truth is... Without the Cross, there is no Easter. Without the cross, there is no victory. Without the cross we have no hope.

[Galatians 6:14] says, ''I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ...'' Without the cross we'd have nothing to celebrate today!

So, today... we're not going to skip over the cross. We're not going to skip over the pain that Jesus went through in the final days leading up to the crucifixion. Instead, we're going to remember it. We're going to reflect on what Jesus endured for you and for me.

I find it interesting that 1/3 of the Gospels focuses on the final week of Jesus' life. Nearly ½ of the book of John...

In John 12, Jesus was already preparing the disciples for his death. He said in verse 23, ''The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.'' Jesus knew exactly what was happening and he tried to warn his disciples.

In Mark 9:31-32 he said, ''31 For he was teaching his disciples and telling them, ''The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, he will rise three days later.'' 32 But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask him.''
