We are in a series called Rhythms. We are looking at the rhythms of life... worship, work, rest, and relationships. Just as rhythm is essential for music... we need these to flourish.

Last week we talked about work and how it is a gift to be stewarded. Today, I want to talk about rest. Rest is also a GIFT to be stewarded. - Today I want you to SEE REST in the Bible and then RECEIVE REST for yourself.

Multiple articles and studies have been done to demonstrate that the US is the most overworked country in the world. We are a country that values hard work. It's a cultural value. - Working hard is a good thing! But we also need to REST WELL!

The CDC put out some info a few years ago that stated that 1 in 3 Americans do not get enough sleep.

Let me ask you do you feel like you rest well? Do you regularly... cease from work?

Do you find yourself constantly working 7 days a week?

How do you like to REST - I'M OUTSIDE. I LOVE BEING OUTSIDE.

We are going to walk you through the Bible and I'm going to show you rest through the lens of creation, law, and gospel... specifically through something the Bible calls SABBATH.

I want you to SEE REST in the Bible, and then RECEIVE REST for yourself. ?

Gen. 2:1-3- Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done, and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done. 3 So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.

Seeing Rest through the Lens of CREATION.

God creates for 6 days... each day He says at the end... ''It is good.'' God modeled a day of rest from the very beginning. God wasn't tired. He didn't need rest. He did it as a model for us. His work was good, He was pleased with it. He rested, satisfied with... and enjoyed it.
