Broken Peace
Jeff Ecklund
John 16:33
It goes without saying that we are all facing tough and challenging times. But we have preached for years that the church is not about the building. It's about people. It takes extra effort to be connected in a season like this, but we were made for these kinds of challenges!
I think in this season of self-sheltering and isolation, we are recognizing how important it is to be in community, to be with people.
(Share stories of how people are connecting while still social distancing and sheltering in place)
I'm not sure we have EVER experienced an event or season that impacted us all across the board like this one.
Recently our area experienced a 6.5 earthquake, in Idaho! Someone posted on Facebook, ''even the earthquakes are moving from California to Idaho''!
In times like these we are assailed with information...what to do, where to go, where to stay. Sometimes it's an absolute overload and things seem to be changing daily. A person starts to wonder about the source and the wisdom of said information, and we can turn into armchair quarterbacks.
One of the most difficult things in this season is to feel helpless, and not in control of our situation.
I've had the thought for a few weeks that ''not one of us has led a church, our family or business through a pandemic, but God has led His people through many!''
I believe that God wants to give us direction AND equip us!
There is not a good father or mother out there who, in times of distress, would not give direction to their kids. Or who would allow their children to wander aimlessly, just hoping that their child figured it out.
The message this morning starts in John, chapter sixteen. The time frame is shortly BEFORE Jesus was to be crucified.
This passage is a conversation that Jesus had with those around Him. He was trying to tell them that their world was ready to be shaken.
They didn't know that He was going to give up His life ...
