Easter at Home
Jeff Ecklund
Mark 16:1-6
Easter went from being undeniably the biggest day of gathering of the church publicly, to the biggest day of gathering for church in the home...and online!
It's not that we would ever have chosen it to be this way, but God will be God and the church will be the church. You can't cancel Easter! The devil wishes he could cancel it now.
1 Corinthians 2:8 (ESV)
8None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Basically, if they had known the impact, they wouldn't have done it!
That same impact is ours and can be yours today. There are events that change the world, and certainly the pandemic we are walking through has done just that.
But there has been NO event that has touched and changed the world like Jesus rising from the grave.
It's the biggest celebration of hope the world has ever experienced.
I just want to welcome you this morning wherever you are.
If you've ever dreamed of doing church in your pajamas, well, I've heard that there are some doing that!
You don't have to worry about having your coffee or food in the sanctuary...breakfast church!
You can kind of make up your own rules about doing church in your own home or awhile, right?
Some folks are still dressing up and even going out for takeout lunch afterward.
I know that when we are through this, there are a lot of things I won't be taking for granted.
Such as:
Gathering, hearing joy in the voices of people around me, hugging necks and hoping to never hear the term ''social distancing'' again.
Not feeling guilty if I allergy sneeze in public. Not feeling funny about buying a NORMAL amount of TP!
Preaching in front of people instead of a camera!
All the things we do to take care of ourselves like haircuts.
It's the little things you miss.
Speaking of rules at church...someone compiled some odd laws back in the day regarding church: ...
