Introduction: Did you know that some of the top motivational speakers in the nation today charge a fee of $15-20,000 per appearance? That's pretty amazing that someone can command that kind of fee for one speech.
I assure you that this is not a $15,000 speech. I give lots of speeches, talks, sermons, etc. but I am what you call a low budget speaker. Generally my honoriaums consist of a coupon for a happy meal at McDonalds.
A friend of mine told me that I needed to increase the price charged for tapes because every time he couldn't sleep he just popped a tape in and off to sleep he went. Such a kidder!
Suffice it to say that someone believes in the power of motivation. Motivation is a key to almost everything we do; business, sports, relationships, community life, etc.
In this last message in the series Maturity Matters we are going to talk about what keeps believers motivated over the long haul in their spiritual life. I am going to hang this message on four simple words that will help you to remember it; Love, Truth, Impact (Difference-Making) and Heaven.
MOTIVATION NO. 1 - LOVE
This is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions in the world.
• It is a love driven faith.
It is not do the rules, do the rules or else, know the dogma, clean up- your act. The very heart of our faith begins with the simple statement that For God so love the World. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
• It is a love motivated faith.
Lam. 3:22 The LORDS lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. Lam. 3:23 {They} are new every morning; Great is Thy faithfulness.
We have all heard the expression, what have you done for me lately? Mature believers never have to ask that question.
