S.M. Lockridge was pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego from 1953-1993. He was to the African American church what Adrian Rogers, W.A. Criswell, and Jerry Vines have been to the Southern Baptist Convention. Two of his most noteworthy sermons are still prominent on YouTube today. Lockridge preached, ''That's My King'' about the Lordship of Jesus. And his wonderful Easter message was simply called, ''It's Friday but Sunday's Coming.''

Contrasting the darkness of Crucifixion Day with the Glory of Resurrection Day, Lockridge kept saying, ''It's Friday but Sunday's Coming.''

It's Friday...Jesus is praying, Peter's a sleeping, Judas is betraying, But Sunday's comin'

It's Friday...Pilate's struggling. The council is conspiring. The crowd is vilifying.
They don't even know that Sunday's comin'

Brother Lockridge talked about the difference in the HORROR of Friday versus the GLORY of Sunday. But I want to talk more about the difference in the MIRACULOUS nature of Sunday and the MUNDANE nature of Monday.

A couple of years ago, Dr. Thom Rainer released a little article on the internet entitled, ''Five Reasons Mondays are so Tough for Pastors.'' The article chronicles the reasons why most pastors are ready to resign on Mondays. I can relate to most of them. But I am not alone in having a relative disdain for Mondays.

Like Karen Carpenter, rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

When I was in high school, the Bangles said every week started with ''just another manic Monday.'' Meanwhile, the Mamas and the Papas said that ''Monday, Monday, you can't trust that day.'' As far as songwriters go, only Jimmy Buffet thought that everything would be alright ''come Monday.''
