Intro/Attention

*Americans are fascinated with new stuff. We really are. We love the phrase, ''new and improved.'' We want a new house, the new car, the new computer, or the newest phone. Or, we could always get a new look. Plastic surgery takes care of that right? But we are also fascinated by old stuff. I mean really old stuff. We love antiques. Antique furniture. There are businesses that make really good money just selling old stuff. Old art. It gets more valuable as the years god by. And I'll tell you one thing, I'm going to hold on to my baseball card collection for a couple of more decades and one day I'll be rich! At least that's what I've thought since I was twelve!*

We are fascinated with new stuff and old stuff. But I've got the best of both worlds for you. What if I told you a really old message could make you brand new? It's true. There's a really old message that can make you completely new. It's called the gospel. Listen to what Jesus says in John 5:24. READ TEXT

Jesus is talking in this verse. And He's talking about some very important things. He's talking about life or death. He's talking about eternal life or judgment. He's talking about freedom or bondage.

He says, ''Most assuredly...'' In other words, ''pay attention to what I'm about to say; this is important.'' And it is. This is the most important message you will ever hear. Not because it's Easter. Not because I'm preaching. But because Jesus is showing us how we can have new life.

You may be thinking, ''What's the big deal about new life? The life I have now is just fine?'' That's a great question. And I hope to be able to answer it for you.

The Bible tells us that all of us are sinners. I hope I don't have to prove that to you. You should already be very well aware of that fact. What you might not know is that because of sin we are sentenced to death. So, you may think your life is fine, but if you ...
