John 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.Ó
Introduction: Tomorrow morning in the city of Lexington, Kentucky, the father of one of our members (Mary Del Insko) will undergo heart by-pass surgery. It is a medical procedure that has become all too familiar with life today. It is required when the arteries of the heart become blocked with a plaque-like substance that can lead to a heart attack. Many persons in this room this morning have gone through this procedure or know someone who has. There are a couple of things about this condition that should be noted.
(1) The blockage usually develops over a long period of time. In fact it may go totally undetected until a crisis erupts.
(2) If detected in time, treatment is available without the destruction of our health.
Just as we have to be concerned about the physical condition of our heart, we should also be concerned about the spiritual condition of our heart. It is possible that some have been experiencing blockage in the spiritual realm so that the free flow of the Holy Spirit has been restricted in your life. This may take place in the life of an individual or corporately in the life of a church or denomination.
It will manifest itself in our walk with God, our worship of God, and our witness for God.
Last week we dealt with failure in Abraham's life and the Holy Spirit begin to do a refreshing work in the lives of many people. Almost from the conclusion of last Sunday morning I sensed that God was not through dealing with us in this area. I am convinced that many of us have been living in spiritual bondage due to something in the past. It has been just like a blockage that has kept many of us from going on in our walk with the Lord.
How many of us would really like to experience spiritual freedom in our walk with the Lord?
