Isaiah 55:7-9: ''Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. (9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.''

Someone said -- ''Do Baptists believe in backsliding?'' I said, ''We not only believe in it -- but we practice it!''

How is it that God can save a sinner from an eternal hell? This question is amazing in itself.

But what amazes me even more is how a person -- who has been saved from an eternal hell -- forever and ever -- can leave the things of God -- act as if they have never been saved -- and forget that God's grace replaced our disgrace because of His wonderful and marvelous love.

But there is good news for you. Because God's grace replaced your disgrace -- you can come back or return unto the Lord. The Bible is full of people who blew it the first time, and God, in His infinite love and longsuffering, offers people the opportunity to return -- to start over -- to begin again.

You need to know what the word grace means. It means that God offers to you something that you don't deserve -- you can't earn it -- you can't buy it -- and you can't work for it. You either receive God's unmerited -- undeserved love by faith as His gift to you -- or you reject it.
