Over this month, we have been talking about the importance of having our hearts prepared for what God is getting ready to do in our lives individually and in our church. We have referenced the story of Nehemiah from the Old Testament. It was written around 450 BC. Nehemiah was the governor of Judah who had a burden for God's people and their city Jerusalem that was burned with fire and the walls were in ruins.

Nehemiah's burden for his people turned into a vision from God. When Nehemiah was confronted by King Artexerxes as to why he was sad, he responded by asking for permission to go to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall. His burden led to a vision and his vision led him to action.

We too as a church have come to the realization that we live in a community that predominantly doesn't know God. We have a burden in our hearts for people that are hurting, lost, without God, and living well below the quality of life that comes from having a relationship with Jesus.

Colossians 3:4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Is there such thing as a life without God? Just look at the statistics for opioid addictions, alcohol abuse, abortion, divorce, domestic violence, and suicide. For every homicide in Virginia, there are 2.3 suicides.

It's time for us as the church to rise up and BE THE DIFFERENCE in our community. We don't condemn those who are part of the stats, because we used to be part of the stats. We love people because Jesus loves them, and we are the representatives of Jesus in our community.
