One of the most frustrating thing in domestic life is when the plug keeps coming out of the outlet when you're vacuuming! You just what that plug to stay plugged in so you can complete the job.
I love it when you go to Costco or Best Buy or even Walmart and you see all the big screen TV's all lit up and all showing the same thing. They know that what sells TV's is the quality of the picture when the TV is on. What is all the TV's were off? You wouldn't know what TV to buy. In order to have any kind of quality of life, the TV must be plugged into the power source.
Such is true of our relationship with God. If we don't plug in through prayer, we are like that TV that is off. We show no life, no show no color, we show no movement, we have no appeal to a world looking for a better quality of existence. The gospel is ineffective without us being lit up. No one wants a TV in their living room that doesn't work. YOUR LIFE IS LIKE A LIGHT TO A LOST WORLD THAT NEEDS JESUS. PRAYER IS YOUR LIFELINE.
I said this last week: ''Prayer is a constant connection and communication to our Creator. It is the lifeline between us and Jesus.'' Someone said, ''When man works, man works. When man prays, God works.'' In the same way that relationships cannot thrive without healthy communication, neither can our relationship with Jesus. We must set aside time to talk to Him and allow Him to speak to us.
Why is it that we neglect to pray? Many people don't pray, or they struggle with praying because:
- They don't know how to pray.
- They don't think they have time. They are too busy.
- They don't think it is important.
- They don't believe that it makes any difference.
- They feel they are not worthy enough for God to listen to their prayers.
- They feel that their prayers are not heard.
- They fear that they don't pray the right prayers.
- They don't believe their prayer is effectiv ...
