Series: Proverbial Apps
Tony Thomas
Proverbs 14:12
We're starting a new series today called, ''Proverbial Apps.'' The word ''App'' is short for application. If you have an iPhone, or an iPad, or a laptop you are using a variety of applications.
I've got about 40 apps on my iPhone. Some of them came from the factory and I didn't even have a choice. In fact, I can't delete some of them. Some of them I don't use, but the ones I have downloaded I use every week.
Like you, I have some favorites, like ''Gas Buddy'' (it helps me find the lowest price at the time I need fuel). ''Facetime'' is a must with the grandchildren because even though we live apart, we can still see them. And ''Flashlight'' is an absolute must. I still can't believe how often we turn those things on!
One page of my apps are devoted to sports. I follow the Colts, Sooners (football), Reds, and Boilermakers (basketball). I have three aps devoted to golf: the ''PGA'' allows me to follow the stats of the PGA tournaments, ''Golf Channel'' allows me to watch the PGA, and ''SkyDroid'' helps me determine the distance from my ball to the green at any golf course I play in the world. I pretty much just play at the Muni because of the cost, but it makes me feel important to say I can use it anywhere the sun shines!
I also follow ''MLB'' (professional baseball), ''BTN2Go'' (the Big Ten Networkd) and ''College Football.'' When I coached track and field I had an app called ''Coach's Eye,'' and it allowed me to film a high jumper, or long jumper or pole vaulter and then show them their form immediately in slow motion.
I've got a couple of apps for social media: ''Facebook,'' ''Twitter,'' ''My Heritage,'' and ''Dropbox.'' Dropbox allows whomever I choose to see or read large files that are too big to send via email (songs or movie clips).
I actually have some apps that are useful, like ''Road Ninja'' (it's for the guy who refuses to stop and ask for directions), ''Ask'' (w ...
