Colossians 3:1-17
Yesterday the best football game in the country occurred in Newnan, GA. It was a thrilling, nail-biter b/w (12) 2nd to 4th graders. The game started w/ the other team scoring on their first drive followed by Camden taking the first handoff and running 60 yards for a TD. We then held our opponents and scored to go up 12-8 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter, both team traded TD's and entered the 4th tied at 20. Then it got fun. W/ 2 min. to play in the game, we threw an interception they returned for a TD to go up 27-20. We got the ball w/ 1:20 to play and 60 yards to go. On 1st down they stuffed us. On 2nd down we got halfway to a 1st down. On 3rd down our receiver dropped the ball. We went for it on 4th down and 12 yards for a 1st down w/ 30 sec. to play and made it by a foot. W/ 15 sec. left in the game, we run a screen and get stuffed. After a time out, w/ 8 sec. to play, our RB gets outside and scores as time expires. Down 27-26, I pull the boys in the huddle and ask if they want to play for the tie or go for the win. They want to play for the win. As I choose the play, I tell the boys, ''It is time to put up or shut up.'' The ball is snapped, Camden hands it off and our RB makes the corner past 2 defenders to break the goal line. We win 28-27.
In Colossians 3, Paul looks at the believers and says, ''It's time to put up or shut up.'' Let's see if the proof is in the pudding.
