RJ is about to learn a hard lesson - No degree of temptation ever justifies any degree of sin!

We're in James discussing how less is more when it comes to faith so we won't be fooled into thinking we have genuine faith when we really have religion. In James, he is asking - How can you tell if your faith is fact or fiction? James offers several Pop Quizzes to help us validate our faith. And while no one quiz is the determining factor by itself - if you compare yourself to the complete test and fail, then your faith is false.

Last week looked at how God offers trials as a ''Pop Quiz'' to authenticate our faith by forcing us to depend on Him alone by coming under His guiding hand. James makes the case - If you have real faith, when you encounter trials, they'll turn you to God and not from God.

Today we're going to look at the test of - temptation. While God allows trials to mold us, Satan offers temptation to lure us from God to himself, yet the real problem in temptation isn't Satan - it is US! We're lured by our own desires.

When tempted, no one should say, ''I am being tempted by God.'' For God can't be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don't be deceived, my brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Jm. 1:13-17

James makes the case that when tempted, if you have authentic faith you'll run FROM sin, but if you have an artificial faith you'll run TO sin.
