1 Peter 1:1-3
I learned something kind of neat this weekend on a camping trip w/ my son. If you shine a flashlight in the direction of a spider - the spider's eyes glow green. Seriously, Ann Marie Brezina sent the kids into the dark w/ flashlights held just above their eyes - and sure enough... you can spot a spider as the spider's eyes glow green - spiders were everywhere.
When something glows it emits or reflects a steady radiance of light. It illuminates. It shines. It sparkles. (examples)

Grace and peace be yours in abundance. (NIV)
Note the word choice - elect, strangers, scattered, chosen.
