I'm glad you're here this morning. If you have your Bible, we're continuing in our STUDY OF BIG QUESTIONS and we're going to be back in Malachi chapter one.

The last of the Minor Prophets... The final book of the Old Testament...

If you'll remember, last week we were introduced to the imagery of this book. It's the picture of a good Father-and that good father is God. Also in the picture we see a spoiled rotten, entitled child-and that child is Israel.

Last week we saw this spoiled child ask their good father a big question-They asked, ''How have you loved us?'' And God told them, ''I've never given you what you truly deserve. All I've ever given you is GRACE... LOVE... and FORGIVENESS...

What you deserve is Hell... but I've given you SALVATION, FREEDOM and LOVE. ''Don't ask me... 'How have you loved us?' ...Because that's all I've ever done is love you.''

Everything in your life may not be perfect... but if what you have is better than Hell, you're getting more than you deserve.
That's the grace of God.

At this point, the children of Israel had been freed from the bondage of slavery. They had been set free. Not only that, but the Temple in Jerusalem had been rebuilt.

Why are these things significant? Because that tells us that God had been working on behalf of his kids.... He was working to restore their social lives.... He was working to restore their spiritual lives. And even with God working on behalf of his children and providing blessing for his kids... we see in Malachi chapter one that even then... His children saw 'worshipping' God and 'giving back to God' as a ''burden'' and not a blessing.

(v. 13) You also say: 'Look, what a nuisance!' And you scorn it,'' says the LORD of Armies.

When he says, 'you scorn it,' that means 'you disapprove of it in a disrespectful way.' So God's children... His spoiled children... after ...
