Why Do I Have to Repent? (5 of 7)
Series: Malachi- A Study of Big Question

Malachi 3:6-7
A little over 22 years ago, I went to the florist, bought a dozen roses and mustered up enough courage to walk up to Audra's front door and ask her if she'd go out with me. She said YES!
She took the flowers and we went to a nice dinner and a show... That was on Feb. 13th. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that the very next day was Valentines Day! (So dumb!)
It was Valentines Day... so I went back to the florist, bought a dozen more roses and a box of chocolates... went to her house, knocked on the door again, and when she answered I looked at her and said, ''Yesterday was fun. Let's hang out again. I don't have any money left. But let's hang out anyway.''
I remember the beginning of our relationship... it was like a fairy tale. Flowers and flirting and dates and love notes. I had a single cab Chevy step side and she would sit right next to me... as close as she could get.
Those were great days... but what I didn't realize at the time was... that was just a SEASON of our relationship. It wouldn't always be like that.
Most long-standing relationships start off strong. Don't they? That first season is typically a good one. But it's what happens in the seasons to follow that determine if it's going to be a healthy relationship or an unhealthy one.
This morning, I was going to talk about the recipe for a great relationship, but instead, I'd like to focus on The Makings of a Messed Up Relationship:
INITIALLY-YOU'RE ATTRACTED TO QUALITIES THAT ARE GOOD
This is when you look at a person and you say, ''She has a great personality and I like the way she makes me feel. She's kind and has a beautiful smile.'' You find things that are attractive and those things draw you in.
In this step, YOU RUN TO THIS PERSON. But what happens is... that initial season at some point dies down a little bit, and when that happens...
EVENTUALL ...
