Will Man Rob God? (6 of 7)
Series: Malachi: A Study of Big Questions

Malachi 3:6-12
Obedience is hard because disobedience is natural. Think about that. Why is it so hard for us to obey God? The answer is because we have a natural bent towards disobedience.
God says GO but our tendency is to say NO. God says love your enemies but our tendency is to hate them. God says to be fishers of men, but our tendency is to mind our own business and keep our testimony to ourselves.
We may know God. We may talk to God. We may even love God. But because of the sin in our lives, we have a natural tendency to disobey God.
For the past six weeks, we've been walking through the book of Malachi in a series we're calling, A Study of Big Questions. If you've been here, you understand why we're calling it that... it's because in this book, the children of God had SO many questions. They were prone to disobey God, and as a result, they were questioning God and making unjust accusations of God.
Been there before? ''I don't agree with you Lord!'' - ''I don't like what you're allowing to happen here...'' - ''I don't want to do what you're asking me to do...'' We've all been there, right?
That's exactly what's happening in the book of Malachi. God's children weren't on the same page with God. They disagreed with him. They argued with him and told him that HE should change. They were basically telling God that he needed to evolve and get with the times.
They were convinced that God was irrelevant and needed to accommodate them in their sinful state... but then God came back in Malachi 3:6 and told them, ''I, the LORD, have not changed.''
He was saying, ''I DON'T CHANGE! ... I'm immovable... I'm consistent. I'm holy. I'm perfect.''
God said, ''I'm not moving... HOWEVER if you want to be in relationship with me... you can move.'' God calls his children to REPENTANCE.
He said to them in Malachi 3:7, ''Return to me, and I will return to you.''
