Daniel 4
Today we jump back into the book of Daniel to continue our series... Unshakable. In the book of Daniel we have been learning how to live unshakable lives of faith in turbulent and trying times.
Right here in the middle of the narrative we get a picture of God dealing with this wicked, pagan king of Babylon... this proud, arrogant king... finds himself humbled before the Lord. - Listen... if there is one sin that is common in ever age, every culture... every earthly kingdom... it is the sin of PRIDE.
I want to see pride shaken in our lives today...
Pride is a sin that can permeate any people, any leader... any society. It's a sin that permeates our culture.
If there is a sin that will prevent you from experiencing the work of God in and through your life... a sin that will prevent you from living that unshakable life we've been seeing in Daniel... it's pride.
In fact... we've seen from Daniel and his 3 friends in these first few chapters anything but pride. In fact... they've been quick to give glory to God. Daniel has an incredible ability to interpret dreams... but rather than boast in that... he makes sure to always say... it's from God. - Daniel... though gifted... pursues humility.
Nebuchadnezzar is different. He's a proud man. Today in him we see a picture of the proud in the extreme. But there are things we can learn about pride that we can even see in ourselves... and we can learn how to deal with it. - Because listen... pride is something we must always deal with. We drift toward pride... not humility.
Daniel 1:1-3- King Nebuchadnezzar to all peoples, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you! 2 It has seemed good to me to show the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done for me. ?3 How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures ...
