Building God's Wall Through Courage (2 of 5)
Series: Build That Wall

Nehemiah 2:1-10

Last week we talked about building God's wall through conviction. This week we'll look at another absolutely critical attribute for God's people. Courage is indispensable when it comes to accomplishing God's will and engaging in His work. So, what's the opposite of courage? I believe it's fear and apparently so does the enemy. If he can sow enough fear in the hearts of God's people he will keep us from ever attempting anything of significance for God.

Don't get me wrong, fear is not entirely bad. It's our fear of getting hurt that keeps us from walking in the street. However, once we fight that urge we then tell our fear to shut up and go away until we need it again. Conversely, it's our fear of failure that keeps us from attempting some difficult thing for God without first preparing. The devil will work to keep us afraid even after these preparations have been made. When you receive a mandate from God and then prepare yourself to serve Him you then have every right to tell your fear to shut up and go away. Those that don't will never build God's wall.

Look at how Nehemiah built God's wall through courage.

4 Then the king said to me, ''What do you request?'' So I prayed to the God of heaven.
5 And I said to the king, ''If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, ...
